Five office connectivity bugbears

As lockdown eases, and businesses hope to open and see workers return to offices all over the UK, business connectivity has never been more important. We asked 2,000 UK adults across the UK* how connectivity matters to them as they head back to their hot desks – here are five things we learned.  

Only 12% of Brits have better broadband at their workplace 

After more than a year of working remotely with varying degrees of connectivity success, only 12% of Brits report having better broadband at work. Interestingly, over half of Brits (52%) say that their wi-fi quality is something they can’t compromise on since working from home. No pressure, office wi-fi! 

75% experienced weekly issues with video calls in the office 

The average worker experiences a drop of over 3 video calls a week in the office, where they can’t join the call or it cuts out. Video conferences and calls are more ingrained in our work culture than ever before. Workers can’t afford to be having connectivity issues – let alone from within their workplace! 

Let’s get smart 

Is your office fit for the future? 59% of Brits would like to see an introduction of new technologies in their workplace in the next 12 months. To enhance their work performance, 20% would like more IoT tech like smart lights and smart toilets. 16% would like smart display whiteboards, 14% would like to see 3D printing and 13% would like to try VR teleconferencing. 

Slow business broadband = time wasted 

Think coffee or watercooler breaks are productivity disruptors? Think again! Before lockdown, Brits wasted an average of 13.98 minutes a week due to poor business connectivity. Nobody needs slow internet while uploading or downloading a file! 

Time for an upgrade? 

Two in five (40%) workers would feel more positive about returning to the office if their business broadband was upgraded. Don’t let the disconnect between your team’s home and business broadband performance stop them wanting to return to the office.
